This is true. Maybe the girls next year should just rebel and wear vibrantly colored clothes. However, I don’t understand what the big deal is about buying the dress. It seems to me that many girls at our school bought a new dress for every dance we had: Semi, Junior Senior (x2) and Prom. That might be incredibly broad and general and somewhat of a stereo type but who knows, that white dress might come in handy one day.
I have never thought about how incredibly sexist this is.
The boys got to look like traditional graduates in black gowns, whereas the girls had to wear white gowns. Think about that for a minute. The girls were white and pure while the boys were scholastic looking.
